4th Study India Programme (SIP)

Ministry of External Affairs proposes to start the 4th Study India Programme (SIP) to enable overseas Indian youth (foreign citizens of Indian Origin only) in the age group 18-26 years to undergo a short term course of 4 weeks to familiarize them with the art, culture, heritage, history and social and economic development of India. The programme will be organized from 20th January 2016 to 16thFebruary 2016 in partnership with Symbiosis Centre for International Education (SCIE), Pune. The participants would undergo a 3 week programme within the selected Institute with academic and cultural content and 01 week of field visits organized by the Institute.


2.            You are therefore, requested to send nominations for the 4th Study India programme (SIP) scheduled to be held from 20th January 2016 to 16th Febrauary 2016. Please also find attached Form for SIP. The last date of receipt of nomination is 30.12.15.

Nalanda University, established at Rajgir (Bihar) as an international institution of academic excellence under an Act of Parliament was formally inaugurated by the Minister of External Affairs on 19th September 2014.

Three Schools of studies – School of Historical Studies, School of Ecology and Environment Studies and School of Buddhist Studies, Philosophy and Comparative Religions have already started functioning. The University has a current strength of over 150 students in all the three Schools including 20 foreign students from various countries such as Japan, South Korea, Sri Lanka, Vietnam, Laos, Bhutan, China, Brazil, Nigeria and Zimbabwe. The University has started the admission process for the academic year 2017-18.

The Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) invites applications from the Indian as well as overseas national having Master’s degree in Agriculture and applied sciences for the “Netaji Subhas -ICAR International Fellowships (NS ICAR IFs)” for the year 2016-17. The NS-ICAR IFs are available for pursuing doctoral degree in agriculture and applied sciences in the identified priority areas, to the (i) Indian candidates for study abroad in the identified overseas Universities/institutions having research and teaching capabilities and (ii) to overseas candidates for study in the Indian Agricultural Universities (AUs) in the TCAR-AUs system.

Thirty fellowships for duration of three years will be available.

Symbiosis International University (SIU) has announced SIU’s ‘Scholarship Policy for foreign students’.  A copy of the same is attached.  Its scholarships are offered to five meritorious undergraduate and postgraduates students per country.


Willing students should contact SIU and should settle the terms and conditions of the scholarship with SIU directly. Embassy will not take responsibility for the terms and conditions offered by SIU to foreign students.

Mr. Sanjeev Manchanda, Head of Education Wing at the Embassy, called upon Mr. Gabor Dobos, HoD, Tempus Foundation   on Feb 14. The two sides discussed India-Hungary bilateral scholarship program. The Tempus Foundation manages ‘Stipendium Hungaircum’ scholarships  for Indian students in coordination with University Grants Commission of India.
