CO-OPERATION AGREEMENT BETWEEN
herein duly represented by
Dr. Akos Detrekoi, Rector,
and
INDIAN INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY BOMBAY
herein duly represented by Professor Ashok Misra, Director, Indian Institute of
Technology Bombay.
In the light of the intention of the Hungarian and the Indian peoples to promote mutually beneficial co-operation between them on governmental and the other levels and the desire of the Budapest University of Technology and Economics (BUTE) and the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (IITB) to co-operate in respect of education and research, the above-mentioned representatives of the two institutions confirm their intention as follows:
Article
The
a) Joint research activities by staff members.
b) Exchange of academic staff for the purpose of training and the presentation of special courses in their fields of specialization. The number of staff members, sojourn and conditions of service shall be negotiated in each case, taking into account the capabilities and needs of the parties concerned.
c) Exchange of postgraduate students in specific courses that are of interest and importance to one of the parties and can be presented by the other party.
d) Exchange of scientific and educational literature produced by either or both contracting parties as well as the exchange of material on the most relevant and topical research undertaken by researchers of both the Institutions.
e) Organizing of conferences, seminars, symposia and workshops.
Article 2
The areas of cooperation in the beginning will focus on:
a) Civil Engineering: With emphasis on Space Geodesy, Geoinformatics and Structural Engineering & Mechanics
b) Chemical Engineering: With emphasis on Polymer Science & Engineering
c) Computer Science & Engineering and Information Technology
d) Electrical Engineering and Physics
Article 3
Both Institutions agree on the following guiding principles:

Both Institutions accept that all financial arrangements are to be negotiated and are dependent on the availability of funds. The parties agree to seek financial support from national and international organizations for the activities and exchange to be undertaken in the terms of this agreement.
Article 5
Both institutions declare that projects that are developed in the framework of this agreement will have a high priority with respect to the allocation of funds of the Institutions available for international co-operation
Article 6
Annually, before December 1, a joint workplan for the next
calendar year will be delivered to the Director (for IITB) and the Rector
Magnificus (for

The representatives of both institutions shall meet frequently at suitable times to evaluate the implementation of this agreement and to decide on changes or additions to it.
Article 8
This agreement comes into effect when the signature of both parties appears on it. Either party may withdraw from the agreement by giving written notice of its intention before 15th November of any year to withdraw with effect from the beginning of the next calendar year.
